Free choices for strategies: The players have almost complete freedom for choices in the game. For example, they can choose which mission that they want to complete at first. Actually, they can also decide not to complete some missions. It doesn’t really matter. 4.Competion: In RPG game, especially in the online environment, the players can compete against the computer or other players. Sometimes, making one’s character stronger is also a kind of competition among the players.
Defect: In this game, the rule of sharing “experience points” by team is not good enough. Usually, the players in a team don’t need to help with each other. Instead, what they need to do is make a team and stay in the same map. Then, they can get more experience points by that. People can really learn cooperation.
Obtained Skills:
Possibility in Edu. Field: The features of RPG game could be similar to adventure game. Therefore, a designer may create a visual world for learning. Inside the world, the players have enough freedom to explore different experiences.
Personal Opinions: MMORPG game has always been my favorite type. I love beautiful and detailed images. I need to feel like I am in another fantasy world (scenario). Meanwhile, I also like to chat with different people online. All of these can be obtained in MMORPG game. Malone pointed out keeping “presence of uncertainty” is helpful to make games challenging. The four ways are Variable difficulty level, Multiple-level goals, Hidden information, Randomnes. All of these can be accomplished in MMORPG game.
